3 Natural DIY Recipes For Homemade Red Lipstick

While wearing lipstick, a woman can make herself feel powerful, smart and pretty. Whenever you enter a beauty store, you see a huge variety of lipsticks – different colors and brands. Nevertheless, they are packed with harmful chemicals such as, cadmium, chromium, lead, and aluminum – all being potentially toxic. Did you ever think you could make your own, natural lipstick at home?

Here are 3 DIY recipes to make your own lipstick in the comfort of your kitchen – without using either of the above-mentioned chemicals:

1. Basic Natural Lipstick Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 drop of essential oil (for the scent)
  • a little beeswax
  • a teaspoon cocoa butter
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil
  • 1 drop red food coloring for the red color
  • Powder/cinnamon/turmeric for brown color
  • ¼ teaspoon organic cocoa

Preparation

Place the cocoa butter, coconut oil, and beeswax in a jar with no top, then melt them by putting the jar in boiled water.

After the mix has melted, take the jar out of the water and add the combination of the color and scent drops – mix well. Move the mixture carefully to a glass container (don’t fill it up to the top of the container because it will expand a bit as it cools down) and place it in a dry, cool place.

2. Red Beetroot-Based Lipstick

Ingredients

  • well-grated, dried beetroot
  • 1 tablespoon beeswax
  • 1 tablespoon sunflower oil

Preparation

Mix the beeswax and sunflower oil, by melting them in a microwave oven or in a double boiler. Slowly add the beetroot, until you obtain the color you want. Make sure to mix constantly. Move the mixture to a clean glass container and let it cool.

3. Natural Lip Balm

Ingredients

  • 3 teaspoons of olive oil or almond oil
  • up to 1/3 of teaspoon essential oil (lavender, cinnamon or peppermint)
  • beeswax

Preparation

Melt the mix of oil and wax at low heat while stirring slowly. Take the composition away from the heat and let it cool for a few minutes. Proceed by adding the essential oil and mix well. Place the composition in clean containers and let it get cold.

As you can see, making your natural lipstick at home isn’t difficult at all and, chances are, you already have all the ingredients in your pantry. Natural lipstick is by far the better choice if you’re the type of woman who wears make-up on a daily basis. Nevertheless, don’t rely on it to last as long as a conventional one.
